Looms:

After trying several looms, I decided to make my own, using weights for tension. For me, it is really the best by far.

Below, 3 photos of my home built loom, in the style of a viking A-tent. For weights I use nuts and bolts or a small bag that I fill with stones. Sometimes I add a bottle that can be filled with water to adjust tension.

The 4th photo shows my loom from Sprangmur, which is actually quite nice. It is not too big so you can bring it along if needed. Next to it, is a loom I made for 2-hole weaving (pebble weave), where the cards are supported on the plank, to move around less while weaving. The height of the attachment is 4cm, which is to be used with some 8x8cm cards I have.

The 3rd loom (5th photo) is really quite useless, but if fixed to a table, it can be ok for small weighted bands, like shown.

I also quite like back-strap weaving, where you attach the warp to your waist. You can easily adjust the tension by moving your body. The main problem occurs when you have to take a brake, and need to secure all cards and avoid your warp tangling up.
